About Ollantaytambo

Nestled in the Sacred Valley surrounded by the Andes, Ollantaytambo contains the remains of an Inca city comprising a fortress, the Temple of Ten Niches, Princess Baths, Temple of the Sun and the Wall of Six Monoliths. Ollantaytambo was conquered by the Inca emperor Pachacuti, who then razed and rebuilt the town as his own private dominion. Ollantaytambo is a popular destination mainly for the Inca ruins described above, but also as the starting point for the Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu.
