Located near the South Entrance of Yosemite National Park, this one-acre area contains approximately 500 giant sequoia trees with some being more than 3,000 years old. Mariposa Grove was discovered by Europeans Galen Clark and Milton Mann in 1857 and named after the county it is located in. In addition to the Mariposa Grove Museum, highlights of the grove are The Grizzly Giant, The California Tunnel Tree, The Faithful Couple, The Telescope Tree, The Fallen Giant and the Massachusetts Tree.
