Experience J. Edgar Hoover Building Day Trips & Sightseeing Tours

Nearly 40 years after it was first proposed, the employees began moving into the new FBI headquarters building located along Pennsylvania Avenue in 1974 and then-President Gerald Ford dedicated it a year later. It received the name of the FBI's first director in 1972 just two days after J. Edgar Hoover's death. The structure contains an amphitheater, auditorium, cryptographic vault, cafeteria, film library, medical clinic, morgue, firing range, vehicle repair shop classrooms, exercise rooms and offices. A new building is being planned because the old one is deteriorating.
