Rising 2,250 feet from sea level and 1,200 feet from the ground, this natural landmark located in Iao Valley in the West Maui Mountains is called Kukaemoku in Hawaiian. Iao Valley Needle, which was formed from eroding rock, was used as a defense location for Maui warriors during the Battle of Kepaniwai in 1790. Visitors can trek up a pedestrian path to obtain an amazing panoramic view of the Iao Valley and surrounding area.
