The longest covered bridge in the world crosses the St. John River linking the New Brunswick communities of Hartland and Somerville in Canada. The 1,282-foot Hartland Covered Bridge was built with wood and concrete from 1898-1901 by Hartland Bridge Company. It was reconstructed and a cover was placed on it in 1922 and a pedestrian walkway was added in 1945. The bridge is a National Historic Site of Canada.
