About Gay Head Cliffs

These spectacular clay cliffs are located on the western part of Martha's Vineyard in Aquinnah, which was first named Gay Head in 1669 by English settlers after the colorful hills. Visitors are not allowed to touch or climb on the Gay Head Cliffs because they are protected as an Endangered National Landmark. The beaches surrounding the cliffs are clothing optional.
