Experience Fort Laramie National Historic Site Day Trips & Sightseeing Tours

This Wyoming historical landmark originated in 1834 as Fort William then Fort John in 1841 as a fur trading post situated where the Laramie River and the North Platte River meet in the Northern Plains. Fort Laramie National Historic Site was purchased by the United States Army as a base to protect migrant travelers and pioneers on the Oregon Trail heading West. It's name slowly changed to that of the nearby Laramie River. The U.S. Army utilized the fort during the Bozeman War from 1866-68 and the Great Sioux War of 1876-77. The fort was manned until 1890.
