Be prepared to be wowed by the interior of Santa Maria de Vitoria, which began as a church-fortress in the early 13th century and was later finished in the Gothic style over several stages in the 14th and 15th century. Of particular note are the details in the tympanum and triforia, as well as the bas-relief sculptures wrapping around the cathedral's massive columns. Visitors that sign up for a guided tour will get to see how restoration artists, archaeologists, stone masons and architects are working together to restore this monument to its former glory.
