A mighty Neogothic cathedral, La Plata's Metropolitan Cathedral was designed by architect Ernesto Meyer in the city's central square. Pulling styles from the cathedrals of Amiens and Cologne, the cathedral wears a towering Neogothic facade. Built to honor the Immaculate conception, the church was completed in 1902 and officially designated as a cathedral in 1932.
