Our whale watching and dolphin cruises view giant blue whales, finback whales, gray whales, humpback whales, minke whales, several species of dolphin and much more! Why are the waters outside Newport Bay so incredible for whale watching? The waters along the Newport Beach and Laguna Beach coastlines drop off quickly into a deep underwater canyon. Upwelling provides nutrient rich waters which supports life throughout the food chain. This unique ecosystem draws in all types of marine life including whales and dolphin. A giant State Marine Protected Park was created to protect this amazing habitat and ensure that the many mammals it supports will continue to thrive for generations to come. Luckily for our whale watching cruises as the Marine Protected Park and sightings can begin almost immediately upon leaving Newport Bay. Due to the abundant number of whales and dolphin, 2 to 2.5 hour whale watching cruises are all that needed to get great viewings.
