8-Day Peru Tour from Lima: Sacred Valley, Lake Titicaca, Machu Picchu, Puno

After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of the charming city of Lima. Lima is the capital of Peru and its largest port. Located on the western coast of the country along the Pacific Ocean, Lima receives very little rainfall throughout the year and is famously known as the "City Without Rain," though winters are often foggy and humid. Thanks to its strategic harbor, Lima was chosen as the capital of Peru in 1535. Throughout most of the colonial period, it remained the most important political and commercial center in South America. This glorious past is reflected in its well-preserved colonial architecture, which earned Lima recognition as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.
During the tour, we will explore Lima's main squares and streets. The visit begins at Parque del Amor (Love Park) in the Miraflores district, where you can enjoy spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. We then proceed to an exterior visit of Huaca Pucllana, an important ceremonial and archaeological site that reflects Lima's ancient cultural heritage.
Next, we head to Plaza de Armas, home to the Presidential Palace and the city's civic center. We will visit the Metropolitan Cathedral of Lima, followed by the Convent of Santo Domingo, whose magnificent corridors were once walked by Saint Martín de Porres and Saint Rose of Lima in the 17th century, leaving behind an unforgettable historical legacy.

1. The Metropolitan Cathedral of Lima is closed on certain national holidays.
2. It is also closed on Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings.
3. During these times, the itinerary will be adjusted to include a visit to the Lima Art Museum (MALI – Museo de Arte de Lima) instead.

Arrival at Cusco Airport, followed by a transfer to the hotel in the city center.
In the afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of the charming city of Cusco. Once the capital of the Inca Empire, Cusco boasts a pleasant climate and is surrounded by majestic mountains and lush forests. For this reason, it is often referred to as "the Jewel in the Crown of the Andes."
An exclusive stroll in the city that starts with a visit to the Plaza de San Cristóbal (San Cristobal Square) to enjoy a panoramic overview of the city. Afterwards, we will visit the San Pedro Market, where we will absorb the local flavors and learn more about the products of the area in this market that has it all and supplies the entire city. Later, the Qorikancha Temple will welcome us with all its splendor and magnificence, with walls that used to be covered in gold.
From San Blas, the artisans' neighborhood, we will walk down the street Hatun Rumiyoc finding in our way the palace Inca Roca, today's Archbishops Palace, and we will have time to admire the world famous Twelve Angled Stone. We will continue to the Main Square of Cusco to visit the Cathedral that houses colonial works of incredible value.

Today, we will explore the Sacred Valley. The Sacred Valley is the Urubamba River valley in the Andes Mountains. Thanks to its mild climate and fertile soil, it became one of the most important settlements during the Inca Empire and is often referred to as the heart of the Inca civilization. Through this valley, the Incas were able to reach the Amazon plains and trade agricultural products with the tribes living there. After the Spanish conquered Cusco, the Inca king retreated into the valley and continued to resist by relying on defensive structures built according to the natural terrain.
We will visit some of the most outstanding sites in the Sacred Valley. Our first stop is Chinchero, one of the most traditional and picturesque towns in the valley. Here, we will admire Inca archaeological remains and a beautiful colonial church. Chinchero is also famous for its female weavers, who may demonstrate ancient Inca techniques of dyeing and spinning alpaca wool.
Next, we continue to Moray, a unique and fascinating Inca archaeological site composed of enormous concentric terraces resembling a giant amphitheater. During Inca times, it functioned as an agricultural laboratory, recreating different microclimates. We will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in the area.
Finally, our journey concludes with a visit to the impressive archaeological site of Ollantaytambo, which was an important military, religious, and agricultural center for the Incas. We will explore the Temple of the Ten Windows, the Ñusta Bath, the Temple of the Sun, and several other remarkable features. Photos taken from the heights of Ollantaytambo will bring a magical end to our day in the Sacred Valley.

Travel by train to one of the New Seven Wonders of the World—Machu Picchu.
Known as the "Lost City of the Incas," Machu Picchu was long shrouded in legend until its rediscovery in the early 20th century, when stories spoke of a mysterious ancient city hidden deep within the rugged Andes of Peru. Owing to its sacred, mysterious, and spiritual atmosphere, Machu Picchu has been listed among the world's top ten historic and sacred sites.
The ancient citadel sits at an altitude of 2,280 meters, flanked on both sides by cliffs rising approximately 600 meters, with the Urubamba River flowing endlessly through the valley below. In the Inca language, "Machu Picchu" means "Old Mountain Peak." In 1983, Machu Picchu was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the few places in the world recognized for both its cultural and natural significance.
Upon arrival, your guide will assist you in taking a bus up to the Machu Picchu archaeological site, offering spectacular views of the winding Urubamba River far below the cliffs along the way. Once there, begin a guided exploration of the magnificent Inca sanctuary, including the agricultural terraces, ceremonial areas, and residential quarters. After completing the classic route with your guide, you will have free time to explore the ruins at your own pace.
Afterward, take the bus back down to the town for lunch. In the afternoon, board the train for the return journey to your hotel in Cusco.

Departure on a tour bus to Puno. On the way we will stop to visit the attractions this beautiful route has to offer. The first stop: Andahuaylillas, for a visit to its beautiful chapel, then its Racchi, Temple of the Wiracocha god where the walls and narrow streets stand out. Then it's lunch time and the opportunity to see the view at La Raya, natural border between Cusco and Puno. Before our final destination we will visit the in site Pucara Museum and a chance to get one of the local classic bull shaped ceramics. We will arrive in Puno at the end of the afternoon and will head straight to our hotel.

We will spend a full day exploring Lake Titicaca, the largest lake in South America and the highest navigable lake in the world. The sky here is exceptionally clear, and the dazzling sunlight bathes the entire plateau, while the deep blue waters of the lake shimmer with a golden glow. The horizon stretches endlessly before your eyes, and the landscape is dotted with ancient funerary towers and the ruins of colonial-era churches.
A full day tour to explore Lake Titicaca. First we will visit the Uros, the friendly inhabitants of these handmade islands made of totora reeds. Then it's off to Taquile Island, a place in which the settlers still maintain their ancestral traditions and colorful typical clothes. A great opportunity to explore the island and get the best view of the lake. A typical lunch is provided in the island. Return to the city in the afternoon.

We will transfer you to Juliaca Airport or Puno bus station for ending the tour.
