Situated right in the middle of Niagara Falls between Bridal Veil Falls and Horseshoe Falls, this Niagara River island offers fantastic views of the falls especially from Terrapin Point located on its northwestern edge. Goat Island, formerly called Iris Island, received its current name because local John Stedman used to keep goats on it. Bridges connect the island to the mainland and nearby Luna Island. The destination also contains the Tesla Monument dedicated to inventor Nikola Tesla.

2-Day All-Inclusive Niagara Falls Tour from New York | Watkins Glen & Finger Lakes

This was my first visit to the area, so I wanted an itinerary that covered the obvious highlights without requiring a rental car. Finger Lakes was the stop I expected to like most, but Watkins Glen ended up being the surprise of the trip. The schedule was full, yet the main stops did not feel like five-minute photo breaks. Our guide explained the plan clearly and gave practical tips about food, restrooms, and meeting points. Be aware that the departure is early and the schedule is fairly full for two days. Overall, I thought the balance was good for a first trip, especially if your priority is seeing a lot rather than spending long afternoons at one place.

Perfect Combination of Nature and History

This tour was the perfect balance between nature and history. Niagara Falls was the highlight for me—seeing it up close was amazing! The other cities like Boston and Washington DC were rich in history, and I enjoyed every minute. The small group size made it more intimate and enjoyable. The guide was super helpful, too. Highly recommend!
