Venice Lido

This 7-mile long sandbar also known as Lido di Venezia is the site of the annual Venice Film Festival and used to be the home of the Venice's Doge. Venice's Lido was settled by crusaders at the beginning of the 13th century. Today, it features sandy beaches along the Adriatic Sea, many hotels and the Venice Casino. The novel "Death in Venice" by by Thomas Mann was set on the Lido.
