Prague National Theatre Opera

This historic masterpiece is an important Czech cultural landmark with a lavishly decorated interior that is absolutely stunning. The Prague National Theatre Opera was opened in 1881 for the arrival of Crown Prince Rudolf of Austria for the Libuše with music by Czech composer Bedřich Smetana. It was designed by architect Josef von Zitek and his student Josef Schulz later renovated the structure after an 1881 fire. The interior art was created by Mikolaš Aleš and František Ženišek. Today, it hosts performances of opera, ballet and drama.
