Old Corner Bookstore

The Old Corner Bookstore is most famous for publishing the seminal works of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Nathaniel Hawthorne and Louisa May Alcott. It was once the nucleus of a burgeoning scene that fostered the above writers and propelled them into the literary stratosphere. In fact, during the bookstore's golden age the corner of School and Washington Streets came to be known as Parnassus Corner, a reference to the home of the Nine Muses. Despite being listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the storied building has maintained its commercial status throughout and now houses Chipotle Mexican Grill.
