Lava Tree State Monument

The 7.1-acre park located in the Puna District on Hawaii's Big Island displays the results of a 1790 volcanic eruption on a forest that now contains lava molds of Ohia trees. Lava Tree State Park, which has picnic tables and restroom facilities, has green foliage, moss and flowers now growing over the hardened lava as well as new trees. It has a .7-mile loop trail.
