Featuring more than 10,000 animals representing 400 species, this top-rated New Orleans aquarium is located in the city's historic French Quarter along the Mississippi River. Audubon Aquarium of the Americas opened in 1990 and is operated by the Audubon Institute. The aquarium's exhibits focus on aquatic species from North and South America. Notable exhibits include the Gulf of Mexico, Mississippi River, Caribbean Reef and the Amazon Rain Forest.
