The Royal Palace in Oslo serves as the King and Queen’s residence and operational center of the monarchy. First used by King Oscar I in 1849, the neoclassical palace is also where the King hosts official dinners and grants audiences. The palace is only open to the public for guided tours during the summer. This tour lasts one hour and visits most parts of the palace, including the Council Chamber, White Parlor, Bird Room, Mirror Hall, Family Dining Room, Great Hall and Palace Chapel. For a breath of fresh air, stroll through The Palace Park gardens.
