Shannon, named after the Shannon River, is best known for the Shannon International Airport, and was built to serve airport employees. The airport is the gateway to western Ireland and the Limerick/Clare region, but the town itself has little to offer tourists. However, it has evolved into one of Ireland’s most sought-after business locations.
