About Niagara-on-the-Lake

In addition to its acclaimed wineries, this charming town located where the Niagara River merges with Lake Ontario has notable cultural institutions, historic attractions, fine dining and many stores. Niagara-on-the-Lake was established in 1792 and was seized and destroyed by American soldiers during the War of 1812. The town's National Historic Sites of Canada include Fort George, The Battlefield of Fort George, Fort Mississauga, Fort Drummond, Butler's Barracks, Niagara Apothecary, Queenston Heights and Willowbank. Niagara-on-the-Lake's Old Town is filled with architecture from the 19th Century.
