The tallest mountain in the contiguous 48 United States is this famous peak located in California's Sierra Nevada. Mount Whitney's actual height is estimated to be between 14,497-14,505 feet tall and was first successfully scaled by Charles Begole, Albert Johnson and John Lucas in 1873.
