Comprising 39 meticulously-restored rooms covering an area equal to 25,000 square feet, Craigdarroch Castle offers visitors a glimpse into the lives of the well-to-do during the reign of Queen Victoria, manifested in the ostentatious display of French, Spanish and Italian Romanesque flourishes circa the 11th and 12th century collectively known as Chateauesque. Built in the late 1800's under the direction of coal baron Robert Dunsmuir, Craigdarroch Castle is now a National Historic Site of Canada and one of Victoria's most popular attractions.
