Located just east of Savannah along the serene Wilmington River, this famously beautiful cemetery is located on the historic Bonaventure Plantation. Bonaventure Cemetery was purchased by the City of Savannah in 1907 from a private owner who previously bought the plantation land to use as a cemetery in 1846. The cemetery and Savannah gained notoriety with the John Berendt book "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" in 1994 and subsequent movie by the same name. Bonaventure Cemetery also was featured on the Travel Channel.
