Paris

Paris

Hotel: Ibis la Defense / B&B Porte Des Lilas / B&B Paris Malakof / Ibis Paris La Villette Cité des Sciences / B&B Paris Italie Porte de Choisy / B&B Hôtel Orly Chevilly or similar

The wonderful thing about Paris is that it there is so much to experience, regardless of the time of day, or season of the year. The Seine River is the backbone of the capital, flowing through the heart of the city. The riverbanks are lined with book sellers and market stalls if you wish to perambulate.

But why not choose a cruise and glide past the grandeur of the gothic Notre Dame cathedral to the epic Eiffel Tower? The commentary from the river boats will give you invaluable knowledge and information about the city. For art buffs, The Louvre and Montmartre are classic choices. Famous works of architectural genius dominate the cityscape. Paris Disneyland is perfect for the young at heart, and is only a short distance away. Don't forget to find out where you can sample such French delicacies as frog legs and snails - not your typical garden variety.

Tips:
Breakfast is included.

Then it's off to Rome, a city so steeped in history, you'll feel like you have stepped back in time. The Italian capital buzzes with activity, tradition, passion, and an energy of its own. Our local Roman tour guide will take you by the hand and proudly introduce you to the sites which make this city so beloved and famous. The Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Roman Forum and the Coliseum...and this is just the beginning!

Tips:

Day 08
Rome

Rome

Hotel: Hotel Cristoforo Colombo / Hotel Club House Roma / Hotel American Palace or similar

Rome wasn't built in a day; luckily you'll have a free one during which to explore the Italian capital to your heart's content. The city center boasts ancient ruins, historical landmarks, religious buildings and a buzzing atmosphere like no other.

Today is a perfect opportunity to take advantage of an optional excursion to the Vatican City, the smallest country in the world! Inside the walls, you can visit Michelangelo's painting within the Sistine Chapel, as well as numerous other masterpieces. On this own-expense activity we'll get there early ahead of the crowds, ensuring you get the most out of your visit.

The Colosseum is spectacular, and for those who wish to enter, there are fabulous views of the city, and an unbelievable feeling of drifting backwards in time, to when gladiators, chariots and lions dominated the arena.

Another feature of Rome is the constant aroma of Italian food and coffee emanating from the cafes. You will be made to feel right at home here; the authenticity of the cuisine is a reflection of the people who serve it to you. Whatever you do, take your time and enjoy!

Tips:
Breakfast is included.

Day 09
Venice

Rome - Venice

Hotel: Elite Residence Hotel / NH Laguna Palace / Hotel Complex Ambasciatori & Delfino / Hotel Venezia or similar

Take note of the scenery en route to Venice: vineyards and orchards flash in front of a majestic mountain backdrop. The diversity of the Italian landscape will continue to impress. Venice is a unique city, perched across 118 islands, known for its canals, gondolas, Venetian masks, piazzas, fine art, traditional glass and lace making.

Your tour leader will take you on an orientation walk; free time is allotted later in the evening for self-guided exploration. See world-famous St Mark's Square, Grand Canal and Rialto Bridge. The evening is yours to enjoy authentic Italian delights, with hundreds of fantastic local restaurants and bars to choose from. After an espresso, explore Venice the traditional way: from the canals, on a gondola.

Tips:

Day 10

Tips:
Breakfast and dinner are included.
Day 11
Berlin

Munich - Berlin

Hotel: IBIS Berlin Ostbahnhof / Ibis Berlin City West / Grand City Berlin City East / Tryp by Wyndham City East or similar

Leaving Munich behind, we stop off in picture-perfect Nuremberg. Having served as a residence for German kings over many centuries, Nuremburg was an architectural marvel, and famous for its artists too. Heavily bombed during WWII, the city was painstakingly rebuilt - in many places using the original stone - and today Nuremberg has regained its former glory.

We'll then drive to Berlin, boasting an eclectic mix of different music styles and street art - a stark contrast to the lifestyle which was reflected in times when the city was divided into East and West during the Cold War. Although there are constant reminders of the oppression suffered by the German people contained within the walls of the city, the modern day version is practically the opposite.

If you have time before dinner, take a short wander to the river and check out the highly decorated Berlin Wall. You will be introduced to Berlin on a locally guided walking tour of the city, visiting such poignant locations as the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, the Site of Hitler’s Former Bunker, Luftwaffe HQ, 17th June Street, The Berlin Wall, The Former SS Headquarters, and Checkpoint Charlie.

Visitors to Berlin are fascinated with the history surrounding the division of the city, and locations featured in news bulletins and TV footage of the day. The Berlin Wall stands as a somber reminder of the controls imposed on Berlin during during the Cold War. A replica of the original Checkpoint Charlie found in the shopping district of the city is visited by hundreds of tourists every day.

Tips:
Breakfast and dinner are included.
Day 12
Berlin

Berlin

Hotel: IBIS Berlin Ostbahnhof / Ibis Berlin City West / Grand City Berlin City East / Tryp by Wyndham City East or similar

The entire day is yours to explore the vibrant city of Berlin.

Tips:

A very entertaining cheese and clog making demonstration will have you wanting to taste the cheese and try on the clogs. For the last evening of your tour, why not wander round the city center. The cafes, restaurants and bars will be buzzing with activity and atmosphere. This is your last night, so squeeze every last drop out of it!
