Fort York

Featuring the largest assortment of War of 1812 structures in Canada, the historic citadel also has exhibits, demonstrations and tours. Fort York was built in 1793, improved in 1811 as protection against the United States and was attacked by U.S. soldiers on April 27, 1813 leading to a six-hour battle with many American and Canadian lives lost. It is a National Historic Site of Canada. The fort also was utilized by Canada during World War I and II.
