Centre Island is the outermost of a group of islands providing shelter for Toronto Harbour. Together they form the largest car-free urban community in North America. Centre Island's proximity to downtown has made it a popular weekend destination for denizens of Toronto. Activities include strolling, biking, and picnicking, and in the summertime, suntanning, swimming, boating and sailing. If you're bringing the kids you should also set aside some time for the swan boat, carousel and miniature train at Centreville Amusement Park.
