Which airport is closest to Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village and how do I get there?

The nearest airport is Kaili Huangping Airport, located about 90 minutes away by car. Most travelers fly into Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport instead, as it offers more flights. From Guiyang, take a high-speed train to Kaili South Station, then catch a direct bus or taxi to the village entrance for seamless transfer. Answer: When is the best time to visit Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village to avoid heavy rain? Answer: Avoid the peak rainy season from May to August when humidity is high and downpours are frequent. The ideal windows are September to November for clear autumn skies or March to April for mild spring weather. Winter visits offer crisp air and fewer crowds, though temperatures can drop significantly at night in the mountainous region.

Do I need to pay an entrance fee and what does the ticket include?

Yes, all visitors must purchase an entrance ticket which includes access to the village, museum entries, and unlimited rides on the internal electric shuttle buses. These shuttles are essential as the settlement spans four valleys and walking the entire distance with luggage is impractical. Keep your ticket handy for random checks within the scenic area.

What currency should I bring and are credit cards accepted in the village?

Bring Chinese Yuan (CNY) in cash, as many small family-run guesthouses, street food stalls, and souvenir vendors do not accept foreign credit cards. While larger hotels may take Visa or Mastercard, connectivity issues can disrupt digital payments like WeChat Pay or Alipay for international tourists. ATMs are available near the main entrance but scarce inside the narrow lanes.
