Question 1

How do I get from Zhangjiajie city to Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park?

Accepted Answer

Take Bus 10 or the dedicated shuttle from Zhangjiajie市区 (city center) to the Tianmen Mountain Cable Car Station – the ride takes 30–40 minutes. Taxis are also available for around 100–150 CNY. The cable car starts directly from the station, providing a non-stop ride to the mountain summit, eliminating the need to hike up.

Question 2

Is the glass skywalk at Tianmen Mountain safe for visitors?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the glass skywalk is engineered to withstand extreme weather and heavy foot traffic. Built 1,400 meters above ground, it uses multiple layers of reinforced tempered glass and undergoes daily inspections. Visitors are required to wear disposable shoe covers, and railings are secured along the entire path to ensure safety.

Question 3

What’s the best time of year to visit Tianmen Mountain to avoid rain and fog?

Accepted Answer

Visit between April and October for the clearest visibility and stable weather. May–June and September are optimal – avoiding both the rainy season peak (July–August) and winter fog (November–March). Mornings typically offer the best visibility before clouds roll in around midday.

Question 4

Can I buy Tianmen Mountain ticket and cable car pass on-site, or should I book online?

Accepted Answer

You can buy tickets on-site, but booking online via official platforms (e.g., WeChat “Tianmen Mountain” account or Ctrip) is strongly recommended. Online booking guarantees entry, avoids long queues, and secures your timed cable car slot – essential during holidays and peak seasons.
