Suwon Hwaseong Fortress is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Korea’s most impressive historical landmarks. Built in the late 18th century by King Jeongjo of the Joseon Dynasty, the fortress was designed to protect the city and honor his father’s memory. The walls stretch nearly 6 kilometers and include impressive gates, watchtowers, and secret passages. Today, visitors can walk along the restored ramparts, explore Hwaseong Haenggung Palace, and even try traditional archery.
