Its 161,145-square-foot Washington, D.C. location has more than 21 galleries with exhibits on topics such as space travel, astronomy and world wars. Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum began as the National Air Museum in 1946 in the United States capital, however, the Smithsonian started preserving important flight artifacts in Washington, D.C. long before that. Some of the museum's treasured items include Charles Lindbergh's 1927 "Spirit of St. Louis" aircraft, 1903 Wright Flyer, 1924 Douglas World Cruiser Chicago, Mercury Friendship 7, Apollo 11 Command Module Columbia and the spacesuits of many famous astronauts.

2-Day Washington DC, Philadelphia & Amish Country All-Inclusive Tour from New York

The Amish buggy ride through Lancaster County was the surprise highlight for me. You learn how the community has adapted over centuries without central power or sewage systems, and the farm we visited was genuinely self-sufficient. The marketplace afterward had handmade crafts and jams.

Washington, DC Day All-Inclusive Tour from New York

As a solo traveler, I felt safe and well looked after. The guide took photos for everyone and made sure no one got left behind. The route hits the essentials: Capitol, White House, Lincoln Memorial. Free time was limited but manageable. Good option if you're based in NYC and want a taste of DC.

A very well-organized tour that allows you to visit beautiful places. My suggestions would be to spend more time exploring downtown Toronto and skip the tour of the Air and Space Museum in Washington. Kudos to both our guides, Victoria and Andrea.
