Lined with cobble stone lanes and stretching over a series of hills, the town of San Miguel de Allende rests in the Mexican state of Guanajuata. During the 20th century it risked becoming a ghost town, but received an influx of residents after artists began studying the baroque and neoclassical styles of the colonial era, which are featured in the town's historic center.
