Question 1

What is the best time to visit Marine Drive for a scenic sunset view?

Accepted Answer

The best time to visit Marine Drive for a sunset view is between November and February, ideally arriving by 5:30 PM. During these months, the weather is clear, humidity is low, and skies turn vibrant orange and pink. Avoid monsoon season (June–September) when clouds and rain obstruct visibility. Arrive early to secure a good spot on the promenade.

Question 2

How do I get to Marine Drive from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport?

Accepted Answer

Take a taxi or app-based cab (Ola/Uber) from Terminal 1 or 2 – the 25-km drive takes 30–45 minutes depending on traffic. Alternatively, take the Mumbai Metro Line 3 to NCPA Station (opening late 2024); until then, pre-paid cabs are the most reliable option. Avoid local buses unless transferring via connecting routes.

Question 3

Is Marine Drive safe for tourists walking at night?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Marine Drive is generally safe for tourists at night due to constant foot traffic, active police patrols, and illuminated pathways. However, stick to well-lit areas, avoid isolated benches, and stay cautious of speeding vehicles on the adjacent road. Women travelers should remain vigilant, especially after 10 PM.

Question 4

Are food and drinks available along Marine Drive?

Accepted Answer

Yes, multiple stalls along the promenade serve local snacks like pani puri, bhel puri, and pav bhaji. Cold drinks, coconut water, and tea are also available. Most vendors operate from late afternoon until midnight. For sit-down options, nearby restaurants in Nariman Point or Colaba offer a wider range of cuisine.
