This 186-mile long stunning crystal blue lake between Utah and Arizona is visited by more than two million people annually as part of Glen Canyon Recreation Area. Lake Powell is the second largest man-made lake in the United States, was produced by the flooding of Glen Canyon from the Glen Canyon Dam beginning in the 1960s and named after the Colorado River's 1869 explorer John Powell. Miles of sandy beaches, colorful red-rock formations, countless activities and more than 90 canyons make this site a top vacation destination. Fodor's Travel named the lake one of "The World's 20 Most Beautiful Lakes" in 2013.

4-Day Wild West Classic from Los Angeles

I tend to measure value by convenience and time saved, and those were stronger here than the extras. The combination of Los Angeles departure with Las Vegas airport drop-off, Antelope Canyon, and Horseshoe Bend made the days feel worthwhile. We did not expect to explore every place deeply; the goal was to see important stops like Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend, and for a first visit that worked well. I booked mainly for Antelope Canyon, yet most of my photos came from Horseshoe Bend. Grand Canyon was the stop I had barely researched and turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I was concerned that so many stops would feel like quick photo calls, but both Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend felt substantial enough to remember afterward.

The hotels were conveniently located, making it easy to find dinner options nearby. One evening we even found a great steakhouse within walking distance. The guide always gave us clear meal recommendations and enough time to eat. Much smoother logistics than I expected – great for first-time tour takers.

What I liked most about this tour was how smoothly everything was arranged. Traveling between Los Angeles/Las Vegas and Arizona can be tiring, but the itinerary made it feel manageable. The Grand Canyon views from different angles were impressive, and having time at both the South and East Rims gave a more complete experience of the park.

Single travelers! Okay so I was nervous booking my tour cause I didn’t know who to book through, what was legit, and what was the safest. This was an amazing tour. I met a few people but I was also by myself a bit. The guide was kind, funny, and informing. Take a jumper for the bus, lovely bus but could be cold. Really safe, and I recommend this tour!
