The fascinating park located on the Big Island features the two volcanoes of Mauna Loa and Kilauea with the latter being one of earth's most active volcanoes. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park established in 1916 is designated an International Biosphere Reserve and a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site. Its landscape varies from rainforest to desert and it's home to many birds, insects, mammals and plants. Notable park sites are the Thomas A.
