The Peach State's 237-foot high Capitol building was constructed in Atlanta from 1884-1889 as a "Symbol of the New South." The Neoclassical Renaissance Revival four-floor crowned with a gold dome and female statue representing freedom was designed by Franklin Burnham and Willoughby Edbrooke. Georgia State Capital is a U.S. National Historic Landmark.
