These Alaskan hot springs were discovered back in 1905 by brothers Robert and Thomas Swan after hearing reports of steam rising from the area. Chena Hot Springs grew into a resort throughout the next few years and has been a popular relaxation destination ever since. It uses geothermal energy and is home to an ice museum. Chena Hot Springs also is the name of the unincorporated community that the resort is in that is near Fairbanks.
