Question 1

How do I get from Paris to Blois efficiently and affordably?

Accepted Answer

Take the high-speed Train (TGV) from Paris Austerlitz to Blois-Vienne Station, with a journey time of 1-1.5 hours. Tickets start at €25 if booked early on SNCF Connect. Trains run multiple times daily, offering a reliable, scenic route along the Loire Valley without the cost or stress of driving or private transfers.

Question 2

What’s the best time of year to visit Blois for mild weather and fewer crowds?

Accepted Answer

Visit Blois between April and June or September to early October for pleasant temperatures (15-22°C), blooming gardens, or autumn colors, and lighter tourist traffic. July and August bring peak heat and crowds during the Festival de Loire. The rainy season is minimal year-round, with slightly wetter months in May and November.

Question 3

Is there a city pass for Blois that covers attractions and public transit?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the Blois Chambord Tourist Office offers the “Pass Loisirs” providing discounted entry to Château de Blois, Chambord (shuttle access), boat tours, and museums. It does not include public transit, as Blois is walkable, but the pass saves up to 30% for visitors planning 3+ activities across two days.

Question 4

Can I visit Château de Chambord from Blois without a car?

Accepted Answer

Yes, use the seasonal Tourist Shuttle (Navette Touristique) from Blois-Vienne Station to Château de Chambord, operating weekends April-June and daily July-August. The 30-minute ride costs €12 round-trip. Outside these periods, take regional bus line 30 (less frequent) or book a guided tour through the Blois Tourist Office.
