The structure designed in Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles by Maestro Jacopo Tedesco is made up of two churches - The Upper and Lower Basilica. The UNESCO World Heritage Site contains a crypt with the remains of St. Francis. The basilica is the mother church of the Franciscan Order.
