Question 1

What is the best time of year to visit the Taj Mahal in Agra to avoid crowds and extreme weather?

Accepted Answer

Visit Agra between October and March for pleasant weather and optimal visibility. Mornings right at opening (6 AM) offer the shortest lines and soft light for photography. Avoid summer (April–June) due to extreme heat and peak crowds during weekends and holidays.

Question 2

How do I get from Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in Delhi to Agra?

Accepted Answer

Take the Gatimaan Express or Shatabdi Express train from New Delhi Railway Station to Agra Cantonment (2–3 hours, ₹400–₹1,200). Alternatively, hire a taxi via the Delhi-Agra Expressway (3–4 hours, ₹4,000+). Pre-book through reputable OTA platforms to avoid overcharging.

Question 3

Is the Taj Mahal closed on Fridays, and are there any other closure days?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the Taj Mahal is closed to non-Muslim visitors on Fridays for prayer. It remains open all other days from 6 AM to 7 PM (night viewing on full moon nights, closed the day before and after). Always verify timing changes via ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) before visiting.

Question 4

Can I buy an Agra tourism pass for entry to the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Itimad-ud-Daulah, and where?

Accepted Answer

No single official pass bundles all monuments, but Indian nationals can save with ASI's differential pricing. Foreign tourists pay separately: ₹1,100 (Taj), ₹650 (Agra Fort), ₹400 (Itimad-ud-Daulah). Buy tickets online at https://asi.payumoney.com/ to skip counters and reduce tampering risk.
