Itinerario

Day 1: Adelaide to Mt. Remarkable National Park
Hit the road early, heading north on the first leg of your epic coast-to-coast journey. After crossing the sweeping plains of the Clare Valley, pull into Wallaroo on the Yorke Peninsula. The perfect spot to stretch your legs, breathe in the salt air, and feel your adventure begin. Back on the road, we cruise along the coastline to Port Germein, a sleepy seaside town steeped in history. Take a walk, and grab a bite to eat.

By late afternoon, we reach Mount Remarkable National Park in the Southern Flinders Ranges. After setting up camp at Mambray Creek, lace up your boots for a bushwalk beneath ancient red gums and rugged sandstone ridges, home to abundant wildlife. Share stories over dinner with your new travel crew. Then roll out your swag and settle in under a canopy of stars.
Accommodation: Swag camping with amenities at Mambray Creek Campground
Meals Included: Dinner
Distance Travelled: Approx. 320 km

Day 2: Mt. Remarkable National Park and Eyre Peninsula
Wake to the sounds of the bush. Kookaburras calling, leaves rustling, and the scent of morning campfire. After breakfast, hit the Davey's Gully Hike, a gentle 2.4 km loop trail through native bushland with panoramic views over Spencer Gulf and Alligator Basin. From here, we roll into the creative heart of the outback, Kimba. Snap a photo at the iconic silo mural, then explore Workshop26, a former tractor shed transformed into a buzzing arts collective. Meet the locals, hear their inspiring story, and maybe pick up a handcrafted souvenir.

Lunch today is packed with purpose, quite literally. Prepared by the Kimba Hospital Auxiliary and the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) volunteer crew, this meal supports vital healthcare services in remote SA. In the afternoon, the landscape shifts as we reach the wild coastline of the EyrePeninsula. At The Tub, towering sand dunes become our playground. Grab a board and go sand-surfing, or simply enjoy the thrill from below. A quick stop at Woolshed Cave reveals one of nature's masterpieces: wave-carved rock walls glowing with layers of ancient Earth.

By sunset, we arrive at Coodlie Park Farm Retreat. Settle in for a shared meal, then let the night sky steal the show. Join an optional stargazing tour, where zero light pollution reveals constellations, galaxies, and the raw wonder of a true outback sky.

Optional Extra:
Stars Above Coodlie Stargazing Experience

Witness the night sky in all its glory at Coodlie Park, one of the darkest places in Australia. This 90-minute stargazing tour takes you deep into the cosmos with a laser-guided interpretation of the southern sky, including the Milky Way, Southern Cross, and Magellanic Clouds. Zero light pollution and a Bortle Class-1 rating make this a must-do for anyone curious about the universe.
Includes:
• 90-minute guided stargazing experience
• Laser-guided sky tour
• Welcome drink by the campfire

Accommodation: Swag camping with amenities at Coodlie Park Farm Retreat
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3: Baird Bay and Penong
Rise early for one of the most incredible experiences of the tour, an optional wildlife encounter at Baird Bay that's equal parts heart-pounding and humbling. Operated by Eco Accredited Baird Bay Ocean Eco Tours, this experience takes you into sheltered waters for a truly wild swim with Australian sea lions and bottlenose dolphins.

First, cruise out to Jones Island, where a colony of playful sea lions basks in the sun. Slip into the water and watch them twist, spin, and swirl around you. Head into deeper water for a chance to swim with wild dolphins as they glide and dart through the bay. No feeding, no gimmicks, just you, the sea, and these intelligent, graceful creatures in their natural habitat. It's wild Australia at its best. Those staying on land will take a coastal drive to Point Labatt, where you can reliably spot endangered Australian sea lions.

Your next dose of adrenaline is a learn-to-surf session with Streaky Bay Surf School. There's no better classroom than a remote, crowd-free beach. Not feeling it? No worries —relax, swim, or wander the shoreline at your own pace. As the sun begins to dip, we roll into Penong, a quirky outback town known for its forest of windmills—a fitting end to a day powered by wind, water, and wild encounters.

Optional Extras: Swim with Sea Lions and Dolphins
These animals are never fed or interfered with, ensuring a respectful encounter in their natural habitat. Cruise out to Jones Island, home to a colony of playful Australian sea lions. Slip into the calm waters and snorkel in the shallow rock pools as curious sea lions twirl, dive, and dance around you. Then head into deeper water to swim with wild bottlenose dolphins—graceful, intelligent, and entirely free.
Includes:
• 3-hour boat cruise
• Snorkelling equipment and wetsuits
• Packed Lunch

Accommodation: Swag camping with amenities at Penong Caravan Park
Meals Included: Breakfast (those swimming with sea lions will have lunch provided)
Distance Travelled: Approx. 400 km

Day 4: Nullarbor and Great Australian Bight
Today, we begin our epic crossing of the mighty Nullarbor Plain. A vast, treeless wilderness that feels like another planet. Snap a photo at the famous camels, kangaroos, and wombats crossing sign, then watch the landscape shift as we cruise westward where the outback meets the ocean in jaw-dropping fashion.

Stop at the Bunda Cliffs, where the Great Australian Bight stretches endlessly to the horizon. Towering up to 120 metres and spanning over 200 kilometres, these ancient sea cliffs form the longest uninterrupted line of coastal cliffs on Earth. Stand at the edge and feel the raw power of this untamed coastline.

Later, stop at the quirky Nullarbor Roadhouse to grab lunch, a relic of Australia's early communications history. By late afternoon, cross the border into Western Australia, gaining 1.5 hours and that undeniable sense you've stepped into the wild west.

Tonight, we bush camp under one of the darkest skies in the world. With no facilities, no light pollution, and no distractions, the night sky becomes your show.
Accommodation: Bush camping on the Nullarbor (no facilities)
Meals Included: Breakfast, Dinner
Distance Travelled: Approx. 600 km

Day 5: Nullarbor to Cape Le Grand National Park
Today, we hit one of Australia's most legendary stretches of highway, the aptly named 90 Mile Straight, the longest, flattest, dead-straight road in the country. En route, we swing by the quirky outback town of Balladonia, which found fame in 1979 when parts of NASA's Skylab space station came crashing down nearby. As the red earth rolls by, your guide will keep you entertained with fascinating tales of the region's history, characters, and
curiosities. We'll stop in Norseman for a leg stretch and lunch break before the scenery starts its dramatic transformation. By afternoon, desert tones melt into a canvas of white sand and impossibly blue water as we enter the Esperance region. Cape Le Grand National Park is an absolute showstopper. Think perfect beaches, rugged granite peaks, and kangaroos lounging on the sand. It's a slice of paradise, and we're lucky enough to call it home for the next two nights.
Accommodation: Swag camping with amenities at Lucky Bay Campground
Meals Included: : Breakfast, Dinner
Distance travelled: Approximately 800 km

Day 6: Cape Le Grand National Park
Welcome to one of the most magical corners of Australia. With crystal-clear water, blindingly white sand, dramatic granite headlands, and the occasional sunbathing kangaroo, Cape Le Grand National Park is nature showing off.

This is your day to dive into paradise. No long drives, just pure exploration. Lace up your hiking boots and tackle the iconic Frenchman Peak, one of the most rewarding climbs of the journey. At the summit, you'll be treated to panoramic views across Cape Le Grand and
the islands of the Recherche Archipelago.

The rest of the day is yours to uncover the park's wonders at your own pace. Swim in turquoise bays, wander bush trails bursting with life, and soak in the serenity of a place where the outback meets the ocean in spectacular style.
Accommodation: Swag camping at Lucky Bay

Day 7: Cape Le Grand National Park & Stirling Ranges
After packing up camp, we roll into Esperance for a quick coffee stop, then make our way to Twilight Cove, a final chance to soak up those turquoise waters and white sands before heading inland. The journey today takes us through diverse and ever-shifting landscapes. Stop in Ravensthorpe to refuel and grab a bite to eat. You'll also spot some local silo art that adds a creative splash to this remote farming town.

By late afternoon, we arrive in the Stirling Ranges, a place where jagged peaks rise from ancient bushland. Our base tonight is a peaceful private campground at Mt Trio, surrounded by nature.
Accommodation: Swag camping with amenities at Mt Trio in the Stirling Ranges
Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner
Distance travelled: Approximately 500 km

Day 8: Stirling Ranges & South West Coast
Fuel up with brekkie before we arrive in the Porongurups, where time slows down and ancient granite peaks rise from the Earth like something out of another world. Hike through towering Karri and Marri trees to reach Castle Rock and the Granite Skywalk, a suspended lookout that'll have your heart racing and your camera working overtime.

Back on the road, cruise along the South West Coast to Albany, where raw cliffs and ocean energy collide at The Gap and Natural Bridge. Then it's off to Elephant Rocks, a calm bay tucked between giant boulders and Greens Pool, where you can swim in crystal-clear water when the weather is right.

Towards the end of the day, we head into the forest. Not just any forest, the ancient, misty magic of the Walpole Wilderness Region. You'll walk beneath the canopy and meet the legendary Giant Tingle Tree, a hollowed-out giant that's been standing for hundreds of years.
Accommodation: Swag camping with amenities at Quinninup Eco Tourist Park
Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner
Distance travelled: Around 390 km

Day 9:  Quinninup to Margaret River
Start your day with purpose by getting hands-on with a meaningful conservation volunteering experience at one of Australia's largest bird of prey sanctuaries. At the renowned Capes Raptor Centre, dedicated to the rescue, care, and rehabilitation of injured, orphaned, and
displaced raptors, you'll have the unique opportunity to connect with majestic birds of prey—including eagles, hawks, falcons, and owls.

Roll up your sleeves and join the passionate team behind the scenes, contributing to vital volunteer work that supports the wellbeing of these incredible creatures and their natural habitat.

Then we shift gears and roll into one of WA's most legendary regions, Margaret River. Wander through Margaret River township, with time to explore its quirky boutiques, art galleries, and grab a bite from a local café.

In the afternoon, we mix things up with stops at a couple of handpicked local producers—think wine, gin, chocolate, and cheese. By evening, we arrive at our base for the night, Fair Harvest, a working permaculture farm that's all about community, sustainability, and living in rhythm with the land. Walk through the veggie gardens, see compost systems in action and meet the farm animals. It's everything Untamed Escapes stands for. Earth-conscious, real, and regenerative.
Accommodation: Swag camping with amenities at Fair Harvest Permaculture Farm
Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner
Distance travelled: Around 240 km

Day 10: Margaret River to Perth
Roll up your swag one last time and get ready for one of the most powerful experiences of the trip: a 2.5-hour cultural journey with Wadandi custodian Josh "Koomal" Whiteland. Begin with a bushwalk through Country, where Josh shares stories of culture, connection, and the six Noongar seasons. Learn how to identify bush foods, native medicines, and how the land provides. Witness the ancient skill of fire lighting, before heading underground into the mesmerising Ngilgi Cave. As you descend, the echoes of Josh's didgeridoo fill the space, creating a soundscape that's moving, memorable, and deeply grounding.

Our next stop is Busselton's Origin Markets, where you'll find a colourful mix of WA-made goods, from food and drink to art and handmade keepsakes. Grab a bite, stock up on locally made treats, or soak up the buzz.

Then take a walk down the iconic Busselton Jetty, stretching 1.8km into the turquoise waters of Geographe Bay. One final road trip stretch has us cruising into Perth by around 6: 00 p.m..Hearts full, and plenty of stories to take home.
