The Mathematical Bridge, which spans the River Cam and connects Queen's College's "Dark Side" (the older half) with the "Light Side" (newer half), was believed to have been designed and built by Isaac Newton, but in fact the arched oak bridge was built in 1749 by James Essex the Younger, and completely rebuilt in 1905 with teak.
