2-Day King Crab Feast & Aurora Adventure: Finland, Norway, Rovaniemi, Kirkenes

Unforgettable Adventure with Stunning Views

I cannot recommend this tour enough! From booking to the actual adventure, everything was top-notch. The reservation was easy, and customer service was incredible—always quick to respond and available 24/7 for any questions I had. It was comforting to know that help was just a message away, especially since I was traveling from overseas. The transportation was fantastic. The bus was comfortable and on time, and the guide was amazing. He made every stop memorable with his deep knowledge of the region and local traditions. I especially loved his passion for the Northern Lights and the Sami culture—it really added to the experience. Accommodation was cozy and perfect for the setting. Staying in a wooden chalet in Norway added a rustic charm to the whole trip. The King Crab Safari was absolutely unforgettable! I’ve never been so close to seafood in such a unique way, and the meal afterward was delicious. The Northern Lights hunting was the highlight of the trip for me. We were taken to some truly spectacular spots, and the lights were so vivid. The itinerary was well-paced, with a perfect balance of activities and downtime. The Sami Museum in Inari was fascinating, and the views from Kaunispää fell were breathtaking. This trip was worth every penny, and I’d love to do it again!

Preguntas frecuentes sobre tours de Ivalo

What is the best time to visit Ivalo for snow activities and Northern Lights viewing?

The best time to visit Ivalo for snow activities and Northern Lights is from December to March. During these months, consistent snow cover supports skiing, snowmobiling, and dog sledding, while long, dark nights offer optimal aurora viewing. January and February provide peak snow depth, and minimal light pollution increases visibility for the Northern Lights. Average temperatures range from -15°C to -5°C, so dress in thermal layers.

How do I get from Ivalo Airport to the city center or holiday villages?

Ivalo Airport is just 6 km from the town center. Travelers can take a taxi, available outside the terminal – the ride takes 10 minutes and costs approximately €25–35. Car rental services (Hertz, Avis, Europcar) are onsite for flexibility in reaching remote cabins. Shuttle transfers to Saariselkä (25 km) run seasonally; book in advance with providers like Lapland Transport Service.

Are there any local travel passes or cards in Ivalo that include public transport and attraction discounts?

Ivalo does not have a dedicated city pass, but the Lapland Card offers access to select regional experiences. For reliable transport, use local operators like Matkahuolto buses linking Ivalo, Saariselkä, and Inari. Many activity providers offer bundled discounts – check with Arctic Discoveries or Ivalo Visitor Centre for packages combining reindeer safaris, ski rentals, and aurora tours.

What should I know about driving in Ivalo during winter, especially on forest roads?

Winter driving in Ivalo requires winter tires, and 4x4 vehicles are recommended for forest roads. Roads are generally well-maintained, but snowstorms can reduce visibility. Carry emergency supplies – blankets, food, phone charger – in case of breakdowns. Always check weather and road conditions via Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency (vayla.fi) before departure, especially when heading to remote areas like Urho Kekkonen National Park.
