Question 1

What is the best time to visit Aurangabad?

Accepted Answer

The best time to visit Aurangabad is from October to March, when the weather is pleasant, with temperatures ranging between 10°C and 28°C. This period avoids the intense heat of summer (April–June) and the heavy monsoon rains (July–September), making it ideal for exploring Ajanta and Ellora Caves, Daulatabad Fort, and other outdoor attractions without weather-related disruptions.

Question 2

How do I reach the Ajanta and Ellora Caves from Aurangabad city?

Accepted Answer

Ajanta Caves are 105 km away and Ellora Caves are 30 km from Aurangabad. Hire a private taxi or take a state transport bus from Aurangabad’s CIDCO Bus Stand. Ellora is easily accessible by road in under an hour, while Ajanta requires a 2–3 hour drive. Pre-book return transport or join a guided tour to avoid return logistics.

Question 3

Is one day enough to cover Aurangabad's major attractions?

Accepted Answer

One day is sufficient for key local sites: Ellora Caves (3–4 hours) and Bibi Ka Maqbara (1 hour). However, adding Daulatabad Fort or a city tour makes the day tight. For Ajanta Caves (farther away), plan a separate full-day trip. Prioritize based on interest in history and available time.

Question 4

Are there any local travel passes or combo tickets for Aurangabad’s monuments?

Accepted Answer

There is no official multi-site pass in Aurangabad. Entry tickets are purchased individually: ₹40 for Indians at Ellora, ₹600 for foreigners; Ajanta charges ₹35 and ₹550 respectively. Photography fees apply separately. Budget for each site independently and verify current rates at ASI counters due to occasional revisions.
