Nearly 2,000 acres of grandiose gardens including more than 2,000 trees, 2,000 flowers, 50 fountains and a stunning Grand Canal await visitors to the Gardens of Versailles that were originally designed by gardener Andre Le Nôtre in 1661. Louis XIV commissioned the vast gardens to be created at the same time the luxurious palace was being built and felt the surrounding greenery was just as integral at the royal chateau. Points of interest are The Orangerie, Grand Canal, The Queen's Grove, The Ballroom, Latona Fountain, Mirror Fountain and Grotte des Bains d’Apollon.
