Moab was settled in 1878 and some believe it was named after the Biblical land of Moab along the Jordan River in the Middle East. The city has been the filming locations of many Westerns including "Stage Coach," "Rio Grande," "The Comancheros," "Cheyenne Autumn," "Once Upon a Time in the West" and "Wild Rovers."
