This season invites full engagement: rooftop dining downtown, outdoor concerts on Civic Center lawn, exploration of the Denver Botanic Gardens, or day trips to the red rock formations at Garden of the Gods. Mountain escapes like Mount Evans or the trails around Boulder become cool refuge in the evenings. With long daylight hours and predictable weather, summer is a vibrant period for events, nature and city life rolled into one.

Autumn brings a crisp shift in the air, and by October the high-altitude clarity returns. Daytime temperatures begin near the 70s °F (~21-24 °C) in September and fall into the 50s-60s °F (10-16 °C) by November; nights drop toward the 30s °F (-1-4 °C). Rain and early snow become possible in the mountains from October onward. The season works beautifully for city strolls through Denver’s LoDo district, craft-beer tastings in RiNo, and scenic drives along Peak to Peak Highway where aspens blaze gold. The lower tourist volumes mean easier access to national park trails near Estes Park, and the cooler afternoons make patio cafes and cultural visits feel inherently comfortable.

Winter in Denver features cold mornings, bright daylight and snow dusted streets. Average highs hover in the mid-40s °F (7-8 °C) and lows dip into the teens °F (-8 to -10 °C) on colder spells. Snow typically falls between October and April but melts quickly on the city’s sunny, semi-arid plains. This is prime time for exploring Denver’s indoor culture - from the Denver Art Museum to brewery tours - but also for venturing into the nearby Rockies for skiing at resorts like Breckenridge or Vail. With around 300 days of sunshine a year, morning ski trips followed by warm afternoons at rooftop lounges are entirely feasible. Despite the chill, winter offers calm beauty and crisp mountain views.

In Denver spring brings steadily warmer days and thawing scenes as winter holds on early in March but loosens by late May. Daytime highs rise from around 56 °F (13 °C) in March to roughly 71 °F (22 °C) in May, while overnight lows climb from the upper 20s °F (-2 °C) to low 40s °F (5-6 °C). Rainfall peaks in May and snow lingers into April in the foothills of the Rockies. This season opens outdoor life in the Mile High City: strolls along the Cherry Creek Trail, early visits to Red Rocks Amphitheatre under fresh air, and bike rides across Washington Park feel inviting. Nearby mountain passes begin to open, hikes in Rocky Mountain National Park gain trail access and patios at breweries start filling up under gentle sunshine.

Amazing National Parks
Amazing 7 day NP tour. Yellowstone with its wildlife and geysers, Grand Teton with its snow-capped mountains, Arches with its red-orange rock formations and arches, I could go on. Our guide, Perry, and bus driver, Clint, were a great team. Long drives between parks but great scenery. Basic hotels but comfortable.

The 13 days flew by. We hiked a total of 25 miles across 8 parks. My legs were tired but happy. The guide took us to a local BBQ restaurant in Moab on day 4 and the brisket was delicious. The only hiccup: the hotel in Las Vegas on the first night was far from the Strip. But we were too tired to go out anyway.

Transportation was comfortable and timely, and the small group size made the day enjoyable. Pearl Street Mall was a highlight, with enough time to explore and shop.

Great place!
We went to Rocky Mountain National Park! I have never been to there before. I have to say it is definetly a good national park to visit. Highly recommend!
