Question 1

Is the City Palace in Udaipur open year-round, and what’s the best time to visit to avoid crowds?

Accepted Answer

The City Palace in Udaipur is open daily from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, closed only on Diwali. The best time to visit is between October and March when the weather is cool and pleasant. To avoid crowds, arrive right at opening or later in the afternoon on weekdays. Summer months (April–June) are hotter and less crowded but less comfortable for extended exploration.

Question 2

Can I buy a combined ticket for the City Palace and nearby attractions in Udaipur?

Accepted Answer

Yes, a “Udaipur City Heritage Pass” includes entry to the City Palace, Jagdish Temple, Fateh Prakash Palace Museum, and Bagore Ki Haveli. Available at the main palace ticket counter, it offers savings compared to individual tickets. The pass is valid for three days and does not cover audio guides or private exhibitions.

Question 3

Is photography allowed inside the City Palace museum galleries?

Accepted Answer

Photography is permitted in most exterior areas and courtyards of the City Palace, but flash and tripods are prohibited inside museum galleries. A non-flash photography permit can be purchased at the ticket counter for a small fee. Some temporary exhibits and royal artifact rooms may restrict all photography – signs are posted at entry points.

Question 4

How do I reach the City Palace from Udaipur Airport, and is parking available on-site?

Accepted Answer

The City Palace is 22 km from Maharana Pratap Airport; a taxi takes 40–50 minutes. Prepaid auto-rickshaws and app-based cabs (Ola/Uber) are reliable. On-site parking is limited but available near the Panchwati entrance for autos and cars. For larger vehicles, park at the City Bus Stand and walk 10 minutes to the main entrance.
