La mejor época para visitar Yellowstone National Park

Invierno 2026/2027
Winter in Yellowstone is a dramatic season: daytime highs often hover near 0 °F (-18 °C) or below, and nightly lows regularly plunge well below freezing. Snowfall is heavy and consistent, averaging around 150 inches (381 cm) annually in many parts of the park, and much more at higher elevations. Despite the cold, winter offers a unique and serene experience: steaming geysers surrounded by snow-covered trees, wildlife images against white backdrops, and quiet trails and roads (many closed to regular vehicles and accessed by snowcoach or snowmobile). It’s ideal for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and immersive nature photography. Because conditions can be extreme and services limited, planning ahead, dressing in layers and keeping safety in mind are essential.

Primavera 2026
As winter loosens its grip in Yellowstone National Park, daytime highs typically climb to between about 0°C and 16°C (30-60 °F) while overnight lows can dip to minus 5°C or colder. Snow is still common in March and April, including occasional 30 cm (12-inch) accumulations in a 24-hour period. Rain mixes with melt-and-snow days make the terrain variable, so waterproof layers and sturdy footwear are advisable. Travelers in spring benefit from thinner crowds and emerging wildlife activity. Early season brings bison calves and elk births, especially in valleys like Lamar Valley, while geothermal features pop against lingering snow. Late spring can be excellent for photographing steaming geysers framed by snow-tipped terrain. Though some higher-elevation roads may remain closed or unstable, the experience of witnessing the park’s awakening season is unique and memorable.

Verano 2026
Summer in Yellowstone features daytime highs often around 21-27 °C (70-80 °F) at lower elevations, though nights remain cool - at high altitude temperatures may still drop near or below freezing. This is the warmest and driest season overall, with the clearest skies and the most stable access along park roads. For visitors, summer delivers full access to major attractions such as Old Faithful, the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and the lake area, along with extensive hiking, ranger-led programs and family-friendly services. Wildlife is active in early summer, with baby animals visible and lush meadows in bloom. Longer daylight hours maximise exploration time. Because this is peak season, popular viewpoints and trails can be crowded, so arriving early or selecting less-traveled routes will enhance the experience.
Mostrar todo
Otoño 2026
In autumn the park transitions from summer warmth toward winter chill. Daytime highs tend to run from the 20-25 °C (60-70 °F) range in early fall down to 5-15 °C (40-50 °F) by late November; overnight lows often approach freezing or below. Snow is possible beginning in September or October, particularly at higher elevation. With fewer crowds, crisp air, and wildlife preparing for winter, this period offers an ideal opportunity to admire the vibrant fall colours in aspen and cottonwood groves, alongside wildlife spotting. Scenic drives become more peaceful and the lighting on thermal features and waterfalls is often dramatic. Many services remain open through September though some closures begin later in the season. Remember to pack warm layers and check road conditions - suddenly cold weather or early snow may affect access.

Great Tour!

The reservation and customer service for this trip were great! The Yellowstone was closed due to flood the week before our trip starts. I thought we have to miss it. Fortunately, it was reopened the day before we started our trip. Thankfully, Tours4Fun representatives are very responsive to my emails concerning the closure matter. About the tour itself, it was a great tour & great value! We got to visit all the highlighted points as marked on the itinerary. Please be prepared a lot of walking if you want to visit all the beautiful wonders on this trip! Our tour guide, Beau was wonderful and very informative! Our bus driver was friendly and simply good in driving! We enjoyed the trip so much and even made a few new friends! We will definitely continue booking via Tours4Fun. Hopefully, we will have Beau as our tour guide again.

8-Day Yellowstone National Park Tour from Los Angeles · Lake Tahoe, Grand Teton National Park, Lower Antelope Canyon, Grand Canyon National Park and Las Vegas

Memorable tour

Our family of three was on this tour in August 2017, and we are very happy that we went on it. It's very intense, with early starts and long bus rides but places we visited were worth it. We would like to commend our guide Chris and bus driver Jason for impeccable running of the tour. All aspects of it - transportation, food, activities, accommodation- were organized at high level. We liked the hotels except practical but rather 'tired' room in Reno and overly extravagant room in Las Vegas. Thanks to the company and all our fellow travelers for creating nice memories about this trip. The tour can definitely be recommended to everyone who wants to see the best places of this part of USA.

Preguntas frecuentes sobre tours de Yellowstone National Park

What are the Yellowstone entrance fees?

As of January 1, 2026, there is a new fee structure. While U.S. residents pay the standard $35 per vehicle (or $80 for the America the Beautiful Pass), non-U.S. residents are now required to pay a $100 surcharge per person at 11 major parks, including Yellowstone. International visitors can purchase a Non-Resident Annual Pass for $250, but it may not cover the per-person surcharge. Always bring a government-issued photo ID, as rangers now verify residency at the gate.

How can I see Old Faithful and Grand Prismatic Spring without the massive crowds?

During the peak summer season (June–August), parking lots at Old Faithful and Midway Geyser Basin typically fill by 10 AM. To beat the rush, arrive at these landmarks before 9 AM or after 6 PM. For a better view of the Grand Prismatic Spring, skip the crowded boardwalk and hike the Fairy Falls Overlook trail; it offers an elevated perspective and usually has more breathing room. Visiting in the "shoulder seasons" of May or September is the best way to enjoy these sights in peace.

Is bear spray really necessary for casual tourists, and how close can I get for photos?

Yes, bear spray is essential for every visitor, even on popular boardwalks. You can rent or buy canisters at park entrances and gift shops. For your safety, the law requires you to stay at least 100 yards from bears and wolves and 25 yards from bison and elk. If an animal's behavior changes because of your presence, you are too close. Never take "bison selfies" - these animals weigh 2,000 pounds and are the leading cause of wildlife-related injuries in the park.

Can I use Google Maps to get around?

Do not rely on cell service; it is nearly non-existent outside of the main "villages" like Canyon or Old Faithful. Download offline maps via the NPS app or carry a physical map. Yellowstone is roughly the size of Rhode Island and Delaware combined, and the speed limit is 45 mph. Expect "bison jams" to add hours to your commute. A full loop of the park usually takes between 4 to 7 hours depending on traffic and wildlife sightings, so plan your fuel and snacks accordingly.
