Located on Île de la Cite, this Gothic cathedral dates back to medieval times when its was commissioned by King Louis IX of France and consecrated in 1248. Sainte-Chapelle, translated in English as The Holy Chapel, housed many of the king's most cherished religious relics such as the Crown of Thorns and Image of Edessa.
