This symbolic public square south of the Brandenburg Gate became the new commercial center of Berlin after German reunification and the site of major redevelopment. Potsdamer Platz was bisected by the Berlin Wall during the Cold War and later was the site of a massive concert staged by Roger Waters of his former band Pink Floyd’s rock extravaganza The Wall to commemorate the end of the division between East and West Germany.
